• "Ch'askin, the great thunderbird spirit, aids and protects the people. This design represents a legend from the Shíshálh nation. It is said, Ch'askin helped Chief Spelmu'lh who was the first person who built longhouses and many villages there. The story of Ch'askin is a story of protection, friendship and the many times Ch'askin has come to aid the Shishalh people when they were in great need."-- Margaret August
